Paula Short MIACP BSc Counselling and Psychotherapy
Paula has been working in the field of counselling and psychotherapy since 2002. She is in private practice in County Galway and tutors in Galway City and Athlone.
Paula has a background in musical theatre and this enables her to bring a high level of creativity to her work. Knowing that each individual is unique she believes that the personal journey to happier mental health will also be completely unique.
Paula has also spent ten years as a remedial massage therapist and is very interested in the mind-body connection.
In addition to her private practice, Paula facilitates workshops and support groups, including one specifically for parents of children with Type I Diabetes. She is also a tutor of Counselling and Psychotherapy with ICPPD College.

Paula’s approach to counselling is primarily humanistic, working from the person-centred model. However she has also integrated some of the key concepts behind other theoretical approaches and may utilize techniques from these models. These include Gestalt, Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Art Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) and others.
